BenchHub (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile and web applications (the “App”). By using BenchHub, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
1. Account Information
Username, display name, and profile picture (if provided). We may also collect your email address for authentication and account recovery.
2. Protocols & Content
Protocols you create, upload, or digitize (including titles, steps, materials, tags, and media). Media you upload for auto-digitization may be processed by our AI provider (OpenAI) to convert it into structured protocols.
3. Engagement Data
Likes, saves, comments, and other interactions with protocols and folders, including folders and protocols you share with others.
4. Device & Usage Data
Log data (IP address, device/browser type, timestamps) and usage events to maintain security and improve functionality.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Government-issued IDs
- Precise GPS location data
- Contact lists or phone address books
- Biometric identifiers
- We do not sell your data to advertisers
- We do not use third-party ad tracking networks
How We Use Your Information
- To display your protocols and profile to other users
- To enable likes, saves, comments, and folder sharing
- To allow discovery and search of protocols worldwide
- To securely process and digitize uploaded files via OpenAI
- To maintain the security and stability of the App
- To comply with legal obligations
AI Processing
BenchHub includes AI-powered digitization features. When you upload a photo or file for parsing:
- The file is securely transmitted to OpenAI, our AI provider, for analysis and conversion into structured protocols.
- OpenAI processes content only to provide results and does not use it to train public models.
- Parsed output is saved in your BenchHub account so you can review, edit, and share it.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase. We use encryption, authentication, and access controls to protect it. However, no system is completely secure. Please avoid uploading sensitive or proprietary data you would not want shared.
Your Control Over Your Data
You can edit or delete your protocols and profile information at any time. You may request deletion of your entire account and content by emailing founders@benchhub.net. We will remove your data from active systems, except where retention is legally required.
Third-Party Services
- Google Firebase – hosting, authentication, and secure storage
- OpenAI – AI processing of photos and files you upload for digitization
These providers are restricted from using your data for their own purposes.
Children
BenchHub is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has used BenchHub, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
International Transfers
Your information may be processed outside your country (e.g., the United States or EU). Where required, we implement safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in BenchHub, legal requirements, or services. Updates will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date.
